Comfrey - aka "Knit bone" & Bone Injuries

Comfrey is known for it's topical healing properties, including the ability to help "knit bone". For generations many people have used comfrey for their strains, sprains, bumps and bruises, and also for bone injuries.  It's ingredients are known to help speed up healing for some types of bone injuries and have been used for centuries. I tried it just for this purpose. I took a fall from my bicycle a few weeks ago and my ribs landed on the handlebars. 😬 Instead of just abandoning the ride and tucking/rolling to prevent injury, I rode it down the whole way and thought I could save it. 🙄 When will I learn the at this "Bumble does not bounce"! I knew right away I had either broken or cracked my ribs. I have enough experience with those injuries to know. Doctors will not do anything to help fix broken or cracked ribs unless you have internal injuries.. They don't even wrap you like they used to due to pneumonia risks, so I knew there wasn't much they ...

Problem: Overwhelm - The Solution: One Thing

Happy New Year Shaklee Family! Just so you know, I do not use ChatGPT to write my emails or articles. You’ll get my real words, complete with the occasional spelling and punctuation errors.  At least you’ll know it’s authentic! 😄 I wanted to briefly touch on a problem that many of us face, myself included, when we roll around to the new year. That is overwhelm. You thought I was going to say resolutions, or health goals, didn’t you? We all seem to make resolutions and many of those resolutions center around some health goal. Lose weight, build strength, run a mini marathon. Whatever it is, we set it, we may even take the necessary steps to achieve it, then come sometime in February we give up. Life gets busy, we have an illness or injury setback and Bam! We’ve fallen off the wagon, so-to-speak. It happens. I have learned there is a pattern and often the reason we don’t accomplish our new year goals is because we sometimes try to change too much, too soon. ...

Things To Help You Adapt To The Time Change And Have More Energy

Yawn…stretch…ugh, I could use a nap. Sound like you? Kids cranky? Yep, same here. The other day our daughter said that she heard they are considering stopping the daylight savings time change. I laughed out loud…hard. I’ve heard that promise for 40 years! So, until they decide to change it, here are a few tips to get you through it until your body can adjust. I’m talking things to help you have more energy. Sleep. I’m willing to bet you didn’t go to bed early last night and now you feel exhausted. Going forward however, you really need to think about your schedule and cut out the extra stuff that is keeping you and your kids from getting enough sleep. You know that kids through teen years need 10+ hours and you need at least 8 per night, right? I don’t care that you can technically get up and show up for your day on 4-6 hours, your body needs at least 8. Don’t make me pull out all the science and health studies on it. If you don’t believe me, then you ma...

Kids Love Sweets? Here's How To Cut Down Sugar In Their Diets

The American Heart Association recommends that sugar intake for children is limited to 3 teaspoons (12 grams) a day. A 12-ounce soda contains up to 10 teaspoons or 40g of added sugar, shakes and sweetened coffee drinks even more. Large amounts of added sugar can also be hidden in foods such as bread, canned soups and vegetables, frozen dinners, and fast food. In fact, about 75% of packaged food in the U.S. contains added sugar. Here are 4 ways to cut down sugar in your kid's diet: Don’t ban sweets entirely. Having a no sweets rule is an invitation for cravings and overindulging when given the chance. Give recipes a makeover. Many recipes taste just as good with less sugar. Try different mild spices to jazz up food. Avoid sugary drinks. Instead, try adding a splash of fruit juice to sparkling water or blending whole milk with a banana or berries for a delicious smoothie. Create your own popsicles and frozen treats. Freeze 100% fruit juice in an ice-cube tray with plastic spoon...
