Things To Help You Adapt To The Time Change And Have More Energy

Yawn…stretch…ugh, I could use a nap. Sound like you? Kids cranky? Yep, same here. The other day our daughter said that she heard they are considering stopping the daylight savings time change. I laughed out loud…hard. I’ve heard that promise for 40 years! So, until they decide to change it, here are a few tips to get you through it until your body can adjust. I’m talking things to help you have more energy. Sleep. I’m willing to bet you didn’t go to bed early last night and now you feel exhausted. Going forward however, you really need to think about your schedule and cut out the extra stuff that is keeping you and your kids from getting enough sleep. You know that kids through teen years need 10+ hours and you need at least 8 per night, right? I don’t care that you can technically get up and show up for your day on 4-6 hours, your body needs at least 8. Don’t make me pull out all the science and health studies on it. If you don’t believe me, then you ma...

Often times when I can't sleep it's because I let my mind take over and think about....everything.  It will really keep me awake if I let it start thinking about all the people who have done me wrong, the things that make me angry or all the many things I need to get done today and how I'll be dragging because of the lack of sleep. Can you relate? I've noticed the moment I start talking to God, I'm not talking long before I fall right back to sleep.   😴 Take your free online health assessment. 10 Tips To Help Prevent Stress Eating

Does this describe your life? Work is going through another round of layoffs. The kids are sick and involved in too many activities. Your spouse is driving you crazy. Your mom called and she needs your help this weekend. And on, and on, and on. The stress never ends. You are often running on fumes, both physically and mentally. So you reach for the food. The carbs, the chocolate, the sugar. The easy and handy stuff that while you’re eating it releases that feel good hormone, but the moment you stop or when the bag is empty, you feel just……awful. Defeated. Ashamed. Angry at yourself and your lack of discipline. Emotional eating – eating when we are stressed or depressed can sneak up on you. It steals your joy, your energy and your self-esteem. It creeps in slowly and takes over your health, bite by bite, slowly and steadily until one day those favorite jeans or that beautiful blouse is now not looking so good on you. If you can get into it at all. If you have ev...

Insomnia: Studies Confirm Calcium and Magnesium Deficiencies Are To Blame

Insomnia - we all have it from time to time, but sometimes it visits every night and it just makes you want to scream - if you had the energy. We all know that getting a good night sleep is essential to a productive and enjoying day, but what do you do when you can’t fall asleep or stay asleep and nothing seems to work? According to the National Sleep Foundation (NSF), six out of ten Americans report having   insomnia   and sleep problems at least a few nights a week and 25% of them use medications to help them sleep.   Do you use sleeping pills to help you sleep? Most sleeping pills, especially when taken over long periods of time, can have multiple side effects and are most often habit forming – meaning you must continue to take larger and larger doses just to get your sleep. These drugs linger in the bloodstream and often make you feel groggy the next day. They can increase the risk of car and work accidents as well as impair memory and performance ...

Help with Insomnia

Do you suffer from insomnia? We have all been there. We’re exhausted, we go to bed hoping for a good night’s sleep only to watch the clock…all…night…long. Ugh! Why won’t our brains stop thinking so much and just let us rest?! I hate the times when my brain has me mulling over every mistake I’ve made, every stupid thing I’ve said or done, when all I want to do is sleep! Those are the occasional insomnia nights, but what if it becomes chronic? What if every night is like that? What is a safe way to get to sleep without turning to drugs? One quick way to cure insomnia is exercise. If you think you are too tired during the day to exercise, still give it a try. Just a little exercise can do you a world of good and it will give you the energy boost you need to tackle your day. I’m not saying you have to train like you are entering a triathlon. Easy exercise like walking, light aerobics and lifting light weights can be enough. Just do something, anything, to get mov...
