Comfrey is known for it's topical healing properties, including the ability to help "knit bone".
For generations many people have used comfrey for their strains, sprains, bumps and bruises, and also for bone injuries.
It's ingredients are known to help speed up healing for some types of bone injuries and have been used for centuries.
I tried it just for this purpose. I took a fall from my bicycle a few weeks ago and my ribs landed on the handlebars. 😬
Instead of just abandoning the ride and tucking/rolling to prevent injury, I rode it down the whole way and thought I could save it. 🙄
When will I learn the at this "Bumble does not bounce"!
I knew right away I had either broken or cracked my ribs. I have enough experience with those injuries to know.
Doctors will not do anything to help fix broken or cracked ribs unless you have internal injuries.. They don't even wrap you like they used to due to pneumonia risks, so I knew there wasn't much they could do for me except to tell me to ice it and take OTC pain relievers.
I knew I was in for several weeks of terrible pain.
Then I read about Comfrey and it's amazing powers to help speed up healing bone injuries.
I had to try it.
I ordered some dried Comfrey from Mountain Rose Herbs and made my own infused oil. Mountain Rose Herbs will tell you how to make an infused oil if you have never made it. It's easy!
I added some melted beeswax to the oil to make my own salve and put it in the refrigerator.
I then applied it up to 4 times a day.
I also took my Shaklee vitamins, adding more Calcium & Vitamin D for additional nutritional support.
I highly recommend a strong nutritional base with added supplements from Shaklee. Your body needs the proper nutrition and extra nutrients when healing from an injury or illness.

I am simply amazed at how fast my ribs are healing!
After 3 weeks I would say I'm about 85% healed and feeling better everyday.
This is even after choosing to go race my car at a very bumpy track the first weekend after the injury.
Not my wisest decision and then I tried taking my Dressage lesson 1 week after the injury - also not my wisest decision. 🤔
Those activities definitely set me back and were very painful - I'm not ashamed to admit tears were involved. 😢
I just am awestruck at how fast I am healing.
I highly recommend trying comfrey for your injuries.
A word of caution though - Comfrey is not to be taken internally. It is not safe to ingest, though some herbalists do. There are conflicting reports on it's safety, even when used infrequently, so my advice is to not risk it.
Comfrey should only be used topically and sourced from a trusted supplier.
It's a beautiful flower to have in the garden and having medicinal herbs like Comfrey, along with the knowledge of how to use it, are valuable tools to add to your home based natural medicine cabinet.
As always, know that comfrey and other herbs are not cure all's and please do your research on how to use medicinal herbs safely.
I recommend Mountain Rose Herbs for my dried herbs that I don't grow myself and I highly recommend Shaklee vitamins for safe and tested prepared vitamins and herbs, as well as natural skin care and cleaning supplies.
