Make Your Own Inexpensive Face And Body Scrub

A good exfoliation can make skin feel smooth and silky because it helps to remove old skin cells that are flaking and just lying there on the surface trapped in oil and debris. This can clog pores and make skin appear dull. Using a gentle skin scrub can revive tired, dull skin and smooth dry, rough skin as well as remove pore clogging black heads. Exfoliating scrubs though can be expensive. They can be harsh on the skin because of the artificial ingredients and dangerous chemicals in them. They are also an environmental disaster because the plastic beads and other ingredients end up in our water supply and oceans. This pollutes our environment and can kill marine life as they try to eat it. One simple way to fix all of that is to make your own, safe scrub. I will share what I use and it's the same one our teens use to help remove blackheads, especially around the nose and T-zone area. Whether you have oily skin or dry skin - it helps them both and it only costs pennies! Here is w...

Kids Love Sweets? Here's How To Cut Down Sugar In Their Diets

The American Heart Association recommends that sugar intake for children is limited to 3 teaspoons (12 grams) a day. A 12-ounce soda contains up to 10 teaspoons or 40g of added sugar, shakes and sweetened coffee drinks even more. Large amounts of added sugar can also be hidden in foods such as bread, canned soups and vegetables, frozen dinners, and fast food. In fact, about 75% of packaged food in the U.S. contains added sugar. Here are 4 ways to cut down sugar in your kid's diet: Don’t ban sweets entirely. Having a no sweets rule is an invitation for cravings and overindulging when given the chance. Give recipes a makeover. Many recipes taste just as good with less sugar. Try different mild spices to jazz up food. Avoid sugary drinks. Instead, try adding a splash of fruit juice to sparkling water or blending whole milk with a banana or berries for a delicious smoothie. Create your own popsicles and frozen treats. Freeze 100% fruit juice in an ice-cube tray with plastic spoon...

6 Pillars of Brain Health

Here are the 6 Pillars of Brain Health according to The Cleveland Clinic:                             1. Physical Exercise - Exercise improves blood flow and memory; it stimulates chemical changes in the brain that enhance learning, mood and thinking.   2. Food and Nutrition - Food rich in antioxidants can help fend off the harmful effects of oxidation in your brain. 3. Medical Health - Hypertension, diabetes, obesity, depression, head trauma, higher cholesterol, and smoking increase the risk of dementia. 4. Cross Country Skier Kris Freeman - What He Uses For Energy

If you watched the cross-country skiing events during the 2014 Sochi Winter Games, you saw the bodies pile up as athlete after athlete collapsed at the finish line, racked with pain and gasping for air. “Viewers were alarmed, I realize,” said  Kris Freeman , “but that is just the sign of a great race.” The four-time Team USA member (’02, ’06, ’10, ’14) added, “In the perfect race we push hard over the last 1000 meters and then thrust our lead foot at the finish line.
