If
you watched the cross-country skiing events during the 2014 Sochi Winter Games,
you saw the bodies pile up as athlete after athlete collapsed at the finish
line, racked with pain and gasping for air.
“Viewers
were alarmed, I realize,” said Kris Freeman, “but that is just the
sign of a great race.” The four-time Team USA member (’02, ’06, ’10, ’14)
added, “In the perfect race we push hard over the last 1000 meters and then
thrust our lead foot at the finish line. We’re weaving and wobbly, so it’s
common to crash. Then we’re so blown we just lie there like we’re half dead.”
But
Kris’s pure love for the sport and his appreciation for his ability to exert
keep him coming back for more. His story is remarkable for more than just his
selection to four Winter Games; Kris is a Type 1 diabetic who has overcome
numerous obstacles to compete as an endurance athlete at the highest levels for
nearly two decades.
His is still one of the fittest athletes on the planet even though he just flipped 40 years. He continues to ski, but also competes in triathlons and just about anything involving high exertion, the outdoors, and a chance to win.
You may be tempted to say Kris gets a boost from Shaklee’s Energy Chews, but we may exclaim “are you kidding? Energy Chews get a boost from Kris!”
Ready for some
pool work, Kris says, “Getting fired up for swim intervals with Performance
Energy Chews.” Dive right in, Superman!
