Cross Country Skier Kris Freeman - What He Uses For Energy

If you watched the cross-country skiing events during the 2014 Sochi Winter Games, you saw the bodies pile up as athlete after athlete collapsed at the finish line, racked with pain and gasping for air.

ā€œViewers were alarmed, I realize,ā€ said Kris Freeman, ā€œbut that is just the sign of a great race.ā€ The four-time Team USA member (’02, ’06, ’10, ’14) added, ā€œIn the perfect race we push hard over the last 1000 meters and then thrust our lead foot at the finish line. We’re weaving and wobbly, so it’s common to crash. Then we’re so blown we just lie there like we’re half dead.ā€

But Kris’s pure love for the sport and his appreciation for his ability to exert keep him coming back for more. His story is remarkable for more than just his selection to four Winter Games; Kris is a Type 1 diabetic who has overcome numerous obstacles to compete as an endurance athlete at the highest levels for nearly two decades.

His is still one of the fittest athletes on the planet even though he just flipped 40 years. He continues to ski, but also competes in triathlons and just about anything involving high exertion, the outdoors, and a chance to win.

You may be tempted to say Kris gets a boost from Shaklee’s Energy Chews, but we may exclaim ā€œare you kidding? Energy Chews get a boost from Kris!ā€

Ready for some pool work, Kris says, ā€œGetting fired up for swim intervals with Performance Energy Chews.ā€ Dive right in, Superman!

The Secret of Basic HĀ® in Your Garden

Summertime is when all of us want to enjoy the beauty and bounty of our gardens – but who wants to spend all their time taking care of them ? Basic-HĀ® has been used for years by farmers and home gardeners alike to reduce the amount of watering time, improve the quality of the soil, and treat for pests. Even in those areas where Basic-HĀ® Soil Conditioner is not available (Pennsylvania, for instance), you can still get great results by using Basic-HĀ®, Basic-G Ā® and Liqui-Lea Ā®. The best information we’ve found on using Basic-H in the garden has come from MaryAnn and Mike Mizicko of Vienna, Ohio. Mike is a very successful truck farmer – and Basic-H is his secret! Be careful to note special circumstances, such as whether to spray on foliage, to apply only to the soil around plants, avoid spraying on blooming trees or plants, and other restrictions. Basic-H is a surfactant, not a fertilizer, so don’t use one concentration for all uses, or you will kill the plants you love. Soil P...

Where Are Your Vitamins Sourced From & Why Is It Important?

Do you know where your vitamins are manufactured? Do they do this kind of extensive testing? Is it safe? How do you know? I know, and this is why I only trust Shaklee. WHERE ARE SHAKLEE U.S. SUPPLEMENTS MANUFACTURED/INGREDIENTS SOURCED? Is another question I've received a few times lately. Here's the official reply: With the exception of NutriFeron (Japan) and our Shaklee 180 Meal Bars and Shaklee 180 Snack Bars (Canada), all Shaklee food and nutritional products are manufactured in the United States. We source ingredients worldwide, and whether some come from China, South America, the U.S., Japan, or New Zealand is not necessarily a measure of quality. The Shaklee approach to raw material sourcing for all nutritional ingredients has actually maximized product safety over our 60+ year history. In today’s global marketplace, where ingredients are sourced from worldwide raw material suppliers, we are keenly aware of the need for close oversight. Shaklee R...
