How To Prevent Overeating & Feeling Miserable

How to prevent overeating & feeling miserable

It’s that time of year again….for over eating! The holidays coming up means food and lots of it.

I bet you are telling yourself how you are going to be good and not overdo it again this year or maybe you have just given up on trying to eat healthy and feel defeated.

While I don’t suggest stuffing yourself like the turkey on the table, I do believe food was meant to be enjoyed and you should be allowed to indulge a little.

So how do you enjoy all this delicious food without overdoing it?

We have some tips for you to help you enjoy your favorite foods and some recommendations for when you go too far.

1. Have a plan.
When you know you are going to be at an event where there will be a lot of really rich and calorie laden food, make a plan ahead of time on what you want to eat.
Don’t tell yourself what you “can’t” have, tell yourself what you “can” have.

Eat slowly, enjoying the different flavors.
Laugh and talk with others while you are eating.
This slows you down giving your stomach time to register it’s getting full and can tell your brain.
Wait some time before you eat dessert after dinner. You will eat a lot less.

Like pie? Then have a slice of pie and eat it mindfully.
Eating mindfully means being in the moment of eating it, not just shoving it in.
When you eat mindfully it takes less food to satisfy you, so you eat less.

2. Drink lots of water.
When you drink a lot of water it helps to fill your stomach making you feel fuller.
It also helps to flush your symptom out of inflammatory type foods.
Squeeze some fresh lemon juice in there for a perk up and great cleansing action.
Sip on ice water before, during and after your meal.
Try to avoid soda pop. This is empty calories.
If you are going to consume sugar and calories, let it be your favorite dessert.
And please stay away from diet drinks. Artificial sweeteners actually cause more weight gain than sugar.
If you have read my other posts, I explained how this works.

3. Eat light a day or two before and after your big meal.
If you eat mostly just fruits, veggies, lean protein and drink protein drinks at these times, your body will be able to handle the one day of indulgence without expanding your waistline.
It still comes down to calories in, calories out, so if you eat lightly the other days of the week, you leave more room to freely indulge on that day without feeling guilty.
Plus, if you are eating lightly a few days before, your stomach will shrink so you will actually eat less on that one day you do decide to eat more calories.

4. Exercise.
I don’t recommend training for a marathon the week of your big eating day, but I do recommend exercising every day.
Walking is perfect.
If the weather allows it go for a walk after dinner with family or friends. This helps with digestion and burns some calories.
Weather not too inviting? Then walk on a treadmill or at a mall.
Just having to park in the back lot on those frenzied shopping days can really help you reach your steps walked goal!

5. Don’t fret about it.
So you ate half the turkey, a pound of stuffing, a pie or two and the only thing that started out healthy, but ended up not - was the green bean casserole.
So what. You will survive.
Just stand back up, brush the roll crumbs off of your shirt and tell yourself you are more than what you eat.
You value your health and you will get a jump start on the weight loss by adding more fruits and veggies in your diet the next few weeks, drinking more water, getting more active and maybe even do a healthy cleanse.
You vow to take care of yourself and that includes not beating yourself up over food!

What supplement will help with bloating and that over full feeling?

Let me share with you one of my favorite products I keep handy when I know I plan on indulging in a meal that may be a bit much for my system – EZ Gest

EZ Gest is truly awesome.
It helps ease that, “Oh, I ate too much!” feeling.
It helps relieve bloating and gas.
So stock up on some today and be sure to share it with your guests. You don’t want a house full of miserable people acting like slugs, so share with them some EZ Gest and help them feel better fast.

Another one I recommend to take is the probiotic Optiflora. Your gut will love these little guys and they are very helpful at getting your gut realigned and happy.

The Secret of Basic H® in Your Garden

Summertime is when all of us want to enjoy the beauty and bounty of our gardens – but who wants to spend all their time taking care of them ? Basic-H® has been used for years by farmers and home gardeners alike to reduce the amount of watering time, improve the quality of the soil, and treat for pests. Even in those areas where Basic-H® Soil Conditioner is not available (Pennsylvania, for instance), you can still get great results by using Basic-H®, Basic-G ® and Liqui-Lea ®. The best information we’ve found on using Basic-H in the garden has come from MaryAnn and Mike Mizicko of Vienna, Ohio. Mike is a very successful truck farmer – and Basic-H is his secret! Be careful to note special circumstances, such as whether to spray on foliage, to apply only to the soil around plants, avoid spraying on blooming trees or plants, and other restrictions. Basic-H is a surfactant, not a fertilizer, so don’t use one concentration for all uses, or you will kill the plants you love. Soil P...

Testimony: ADD

I'm an adult with ADD but was never diagnosed. Scanning my old report cards, I see "doesn't concentrate, can't stay on task, has focusing problems". All I knew growing up was that I seemed to be on a different page than everyone else. I'm the mother of 2 girls. Niki is 21 and I'm soooo proud of her. She is in Military Intelligence with the Army and is fluent in Russian and Spanish. With the physical and mental challenges she faces, she grabs a handful of B Complex and knows she can get through anything. Then, there is Kristina, my 13 year old. Diagnosed at 4 with ADHD, I knew from birth she was different. The doctor put her on Ritalin but it didn't work. We tried something else but she was getting worse. I was in nursing school and studying everything on ADD but having no success. At 7, medication kept her from sleeping so we had to put her on more medicine to sleep. She would disappear in the middle of the night. Often we...
