Tips to Help Keep Your Joints Healthy and Active for the Long Run

Without healthy joints, common activities such as bending, sitting, and walking would all be challenging. That’s because joints serve as links between bones that provide stability and control body movement.

Cartilage is an essential component of joints that provides cushioning between bones and helps absorb shock from physical impact. As we age, this protective cushioning breaks down naturally.

Additional factors such as continued physical stress and overexertion can further accelerate the breakdown of cartilage by triggering the release of chemicals that attack cartilage. The result? Joint discomfort and limited mobility.

Did You Know?

Over 28 million Americans have some form of joint-related issue.

And…

For every pound you gain you add four additional pounds of pressure on your knees and six additional pounds of pressure on your hips. These additional pounds can put extra strain on your joints.

Here are just a few tips:

1. Maintain a healthy weight: Excess weight can place additional strain on your joints. The healthier your weight, the better your joints will feel, and the more mobile they’ll be.

2. Tone up: Strength-training and aerobic activities help reinforce muscles that support joints, so get up and get active.

3. Rest when necessary: Don’t overdo your workouts. If your joints are telling you something, listen.

4. Eat healthy: Include antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables, omega-3 fatty acids, and phytonutrients in your diet. Not only are they good for joints, they’re great for overall health.

5. Take your supplements: Supplement your diet with New Advanced Joint Health Complex*, which contains natural ingredients, including Boswellia extract, glucosamine, vitamin C, and other joint-supporting nutrients.*

The Secret of Basic H® in Your Garden

Summertime is when all of us want to enjoy the beauty and bounty of our gardens – but who wants to spend all their time taking care of them ? Basic-H® has been used for years by farmers and home gardeners alike to reduce the amount of watering time, improve the quality of the soil, and treat for pests. Even in those areas where Basic-H® Soil Conditioner is not available (Pennsylvania, for instance), you can still get great results by using Basic-H®, Basic-G ® and Liqui-Lea ®. The best information we’ve found on using Basic-H in the garden has come from MaryAnn and Mike Mizicko of Vienna, Ohio. Mike is a very successful truck farmer – and Basic-H is his secret! Be careful to note special circumstances, such as whether to spray on foliage, to apply only to the soil around plants, avoid spraying on blooming trees or plants, and other restrictions. Basic-H is a surfactant, not a fertilizer, so don’t use one concentration for all uses, or you will kill the plants you love. Soil P...

Where Are Your Vitamins Sourced From & Why Is It Important?

Do you know where your vitamins are manufactured? Do they do this kind of extensive testing? Is it safe? How do you know? I know, and this is why I only trust Shaklee. WHERE ARE SHAKLEE U.S. SUPPLEMENTS MANUFACTURED/INGREDIENTS SOURCED? Is another question I've received a few times lately. Here's the official reply: With the exception of NutriFeron (Japan) and our Shaklee 180 Meal Bars and Shaklee 180 Snack Bars (Canada), all Shaklee food and nutritional products are manufactured in the United States. We source ingredients worldwide, and whether some come from China, South America, the U.S., Japan, or New Zealand is not necessarily a measure of quality. The Shaklee approach to raw material sourcing for all nutritional ingredients has actually maximized product safety over our 60+ year history. In today’s global marketplace, where ingredients are sourced from worldwide raw material suppliers, we are keenly aware of the need for close oversight. Shaklee R...

Testimony: ADD

I'm an adult with ADD but was never diagnosed. Scanning my old report cards, I see "doesn't concentrate, can't stay on task, has focusing problems". All I knew growing up was that I seemed to be on a different page than everyone else. I'm the mother of 2 girls. Niki is 21 and I'm soooo proud of her. She is in Military Intelligence with the Army and is fluent in Russian and Spanish. With the physical and mental challenges she faces, she grabs a handful of B Complex and knows she can get through anything. Then, there is Kristina, my 13 year old. Diagnosed at 4 with ADHD, I knew from birth she was different. The doctor put her on Ritalin but it didn't work. We tried something else but she was getting worse. I was in nursing school and studying everything on ADD but having no success. At 7, medication kept her from sleeping so we had to put her on more medicine to sleep. She would disappear in the middle of the night. Often we...
