Why Most Diets Don't Work

It is shocking to see how ridiculous many of these diets that the so-called weight loss gurus are touting.

It is not easy to separate solid science from the hype and deception being fed to us by the weight loss and fitness industries.

You'd be blown away, at how many companies out there, are not true to their word about what's in their products.

The weight loss industry is one of the biggest fraud industries.

Companies who misrepresent themselves, make false health claims and don't have the science to back up their product results.

And then there's the conflicting authorities giving bad advice. Many of them are simply celebrities who have no clue what it’s like to live in the real world anyway.

Most diets and weight loss strategies are quick-fix programs based on half-truths and flat out fabrications.

The reality is, living a healthy lifestyle and maintaining a healthy weight doesn't have to be so hard. And it doesn't need to include restrictive and difficult dieting to sustain either.

With that said, why is that most diets don't work?

The bottom line is that they require too much time, effort, or money. Some are too food restrictive and when you start eliminating whole food groups as a means of fast weight loss, you will end up a very unhealthy person in the end.

Remember, skinny doesn’t equal healthy. On some restrictive diets you may lose weight fast, but you are losing muscle, and since muscle weighs much more than fat, the scale moves quickly. This is a very bad thing.

It’s easy to get lured into that fast moving scale promise and when you see people dropping pounds quickly it’s easy to fall for that diet. I mean people see results right away!

But, here’s the trap. You go on a restrictive diet. You lose weight quickly, but you’ve lost a lot of muscle, which is why the scale moved so quickly.

When you go off the restrictive diet where there was muscle your body will instantly replace with fat. So now you have more fat and less muscle than when you began.

You are right back where you started from and worse.

If you manage to maintain this strict diet that eliminates healthy food groups for the sake of fast weight loss, you are setting yourself up for major health consequences down the road.

For example, eliminating whole grains because of the carbs?

Your colon health will greatly suffer. While it’s good to eliminate the bad for you carbs like soda pop, white bread, etc., whole grains are needed for a healthy body.

It’s important to remember a healthy diet is a varied diet of all the healthy food groups. Once you maintain a healthy diet and adequate exercise, the weight naturally takes care of itself.

No special dieting required.

The Secret of Basic H® in Your Garden

Summertime is when all of us want to enjoy the beauty and bounty of our gardens – but who wants to spend all their time taking care of them ? Basic-H® has been used for years by farmers and home gardeners alike to reduce the amount of watering time, improve the quality of the soil, and treat for pests. Even in those areas where Basic-H® Soil Conditioner is not available (Pennsylvania, for instance), you can still get great results by using Basic-H®, Basic-G ® and Liqui-Lea ®. The best information we’ve found on using Basic-H in the garden has come from MaryAnn and Mike Mizicko of Vienna, Ohio. Mike is a very successful truck farmer – and Basic-H is his secret! Be careful to note special circumstances, such as whether to spray on foliage, to apply only to the soil around plants, avoid spraying on blooming trees or plants, and other restrictions. Basic-H is a surfactant, not a fertilizer, so don’t use one concentration for all uses, or you will kill the plants you love. Soil P...

Testimony: ADD

I'm an adult with ADD but was never diagnosed. Scanning my old report cards, I see "doesn't concentrate, can't stay on task, has focusing problems". All I knew growing up was that I seemed to be on a different page than everyone else. I'm the mother of 2 girls. Niki is 21 and I'm soooo proud of her. She is in Military Intelligence with the Army and is fluent in Russian and Spanish. With the physical and mental challenges she faces, she grabs a handful of B Complex and knows she can get through anything. Then, there is Kristina, my 13 year old. Diagnosed at 4 with ADHD, I knew from birth she was different. The doctor put her on Ritalin but it didn't work. We tried something else but she was getting worse. I was in nursing school and studying everything on ADD but having no success. At 7, medication kept her from sleeping so we had to put her on more medicine to sleep. She would disappear in the middle of the night. Often we...
