Why Does There Seem To Be More Cases Of Bad Behavior In Children?

I see it everywhere I go. Children behaving badly and I mean really bad. Maybe it’s because I am getting older, but there seems to be an increase in the number of children acting out.

Now, don’t misunderstand me, I know there are countless reasons to what I see as every child acts out now and then and I agree. Mine sure does!

I also understand that there are more special needs children such as those with Autism. I think there is a correlation with the rise of those numbers as well.

I also know that some parenting experts would say it’s due to a lack of parental discipline, too much exposure to violence, too much screen time with computes, phones and TV, etc.

To all of that I say, agree, agree, agree.

But I also know there is another cause – the amounts of household toxins have risen.

From perfumy laundry detergents and fabric softeners to household cleaners, to scented fabric sprays, children are much more exposed to dangerous chemicals in the home and school than ever before.

If you don’t think this is a problem, think again.

According to a report to Congress, the Environmental Protections Agency (EPA) stated, “Indoor air pollution is one of the most important environmental health problems.”

Most homes have airborne concentrations of toxic chemicals 2-5 times higher than the air outdoors!

That is really scary as our children spend a great deal of time indoors in school and with the colder temperatures keeping them indoors.

Behaviors seem to be a symptom of this toxicity. Many studies have shown when certain cleaning chemicals are introduced, children’s behaviors change.

One study observed young children playing in a room where scientists observed via a 2 way mirror. The children were playing well with adult driven activities such as playing games, name writing, number writing and reading. Then a bottle of a popular pine smelling cleaner was brought into the room. The bottle was put up out of reach and just the lid removed so that the cleaner’s odor would slowly enter the room. Within ten minutes the scientists observed dramatic changes in the personalities of the children – crying, fighting, some children were writing their numbers backwards, others showing signs of dyslexia and others acting out.

When the bottle of pine smelling cleaner was removed and fresh air allowed into the room, the scientists observed the children slowly calming down and returning to pre-exposure behaviors. Hmmm.

Look at these photos:

Listen to this:

“Of chemicals commonly found in homes, 150 have been linked to allergies, birth defects, cancer, and psychological disorders.” – Consumer Product Safety Commission

“More children under four die of accidental poisonings at home than are accidently killed with guns at home.” – National Safety Council

What really gets me are quotes like these are said to high ranking government officials and committees along with detailed reports and studies provided. What really bothers me is that nothing is being done about it!

It is truly up to us as parents to protect our children from these very dangerous toxins.

Do you know a child who seems to be worse than normal when it comes to behavior? Do you think those behaviors could be linked to chemicals? Would it be worth a try to use safer products for 30 days and see if that child’s behavior would improve?

Did you ever stop to consider that you are slowly poisoning your children? Does this sound like a harsh question to you?

Think about this for a moment: You have a small toddler. You are a good parent, you keep your cleaning supplies up out of reach. Why? They’re dangerous you say.

You also only clean after your baby has gone to bed. Why? Because they’re dangerous you say.

You never would let your toddler handle bleach or any other toxic chemical. Why? They’re dangerous you say.

Then why are you spraying them around the very same floors they crawl on, the very same windows they love to “kiss”, the very same cute, cuddly clothes and blankets they snuggle in?

What you clean with and what you use to clean your clothes plays a big part in the health of your children. There is absolutely no reason to feel forced to use these chemicals.

The Secret of Basic H® in Your Garden

Summertime is when all of us want to enjoy the beauty and bounty of our gardens – but who wants to spend all their time taking care of them ? Basic-H® has been used for years by farmers and home gardeners alike to reduce the amount of watering time, improve the quality of the soil, and treat for pests. Even in those areas where Basic-H® Soil Conditioner is not available (Pennsylvania, for instance), you can still get great results by using Basic-H®, Basic-G ® and Liqui-Lea ®. The best information we’ve found on using Basic-H in the garden has come from MaryAnn and Mike Mizicko of Vienna, Ohio. Mike is a very successful truck farmer – and Basic-H is his secret! Be careful to note special circumstances, such as whether to spray on foliage, to apply only to the soil around plants, avoid spraying on blooming trees or plants, and other restrictions. Basic-H is a surfactant, not a fertilizer, so don’t use one concentration for all uses, or you will kill the plants you love. Soil P...

Testimony: ADD

I'm an adult with ADD but was never diagnosed. Scanning my old report cards, I see "doesn't concentrate, can't stay on task, has focusing problems". All I knew growing up was that I seemed to be on a different page than everyone else. I'm the mother of 2 girls. Niki is 21 and I'm soooo proud of her. She is in Military Intelligence with the Army and is fluent in Russian and Spanish. With the physical and mental challenges she faces, she grabs a handful of B Complex and knows she can get through anything. Then, there is Kristina, my 13 year old. Diagnosed at 4 with ADHD, I knew from birth she was different. The doctor put her on Ritalin but it didn't work. We tried something else but she was getting worse. I was in nursing school and studying everything on ADD but having no success. At 7, medication kept her from sleeping so we had to put her on more medicine to sleep. She would disappear in the middle of the night. Often we...
