The Cost of a Woman Working a Job Outside of the Home

It appears that the average woman is bringing home about $400-$500 dollars a week. Now there are of course some who make more and some who make less, but this seems to be the average depending on where you live. The majority of these women have children. By the time they pay for child care, gas, clothing, food, etc they get to keep approximately ½ of their take home pay. So for being away from their families for 40-50 hours per week they get to keep about $200-$250 of what they earn. That is sad. Because we all know that working a job then coming home to “work” your second job, which is taking care of your family, causes a hectic and frazzled lifestyle where one never seems to get caught up. It seems like everyone suffers and no matter how hard they try in every aspect, the woman often ends up feeling guilty on some level. But what else can they do? When you are counting on every dime to make ends meet, what else is there? There is an alternative. Now what ...

Allergies – Kick Them to the Curb

April showers may bring May flowers, but something else often comes along for the ride – allergies. Are you suffering with allergies? You can take a little comfort in knowing that there are many people who are suffering right along with you. But you don’t have to face a life of suffering, painful shots or drugs with nasty side effects. Have you ever thought of trying a nutritional approach? Below are some products that many people who have suffered with allergies have found great relief with. Alfalfa – Yes, I said Alfalfa. Many people are shocked to hear me suggest alfalfa as a great remedy for seasonal allergies. They think it’s odd that taking a product derived from a plant can actually help alleviate their allergic symptoms to other plants. And actually I have known people whose allergies worsen when they pass by a field of alfalfa that’s just been mowed. But alfalfa when ingested, actually works as a natural antihistamine. It is one of nature’s oldes...

Help with Insomnia

Do you suffer from insomnia? We have all been there. We’re exhausted, we go to bed hoping for a good night’s sleep only to watch the clock…all…night…long. Ugh! Why won’t our brains stop thinking so much and just let us rest?! I hate the times when my brain has me mulling over every mistake I’ve made, every stupid thing I’ve said or done, when all I want to do is sleep! Those are the occasional insomnia nights, but what if it becomes chronic? What if every night is like that? What is a safe way to get to sleep without turning to drugs? One quick way to cure insomnia is exercise. If you think you are too tired during the day to exercise, still give it a try. Just a little exercise can do you a world of good and it will give you the energy boost you need to tackle your day. I’m not saying you have to train like you are entering a triathlon. Easy exercise like walking, light aerobics and lifting light weights can be enough. Just do something, anything, to get mov...

An Example of How Prevention is Cheaper than Treatment

I had to laugh.  My husband's work has a flex spending program where if you turn in up to $200 of out of pocket medical expenses, they reimburse you.  We had the hardest time coming up with $200!  We ended up using our co-pays for the chiropractor for the few adjustments we had last year.  Between the 3 of us we just barely had $200 to turn in for the year! That's right, we barely had $200 in out of pocket medical expenses for the year, most being just the $30 co-pays we had for chiropractic adjustments.  His coworkers were flabbergasted. Most spend more than $200 a month!  And people say vitamins are expensive. Ha! Prevention is way cheaper and a whole lot more fun! We can show you how. Cancer Prevention Webinar

Click here to listen and watch: Cancer Prevention Webinar With Cancer Researcher Dr. Steve Chaney, PhD, Nutritionist Barbara Lagoni and Jo Coogan Renown cancer researcher Dr. Steve Chaney, professor emeritus University of North Carolina Medical School discusses the 3 stages of cancer. Dr. Chaney will explain in his simple easy-to-understand manner, what we can do to prevent the initiation of cancer caused by damage to the DNA within our cells and then other ways we can prevent the progression of cancer by strengthening our immune system so it can zap cancer cells when they do form (a daily event in our bodies, by the way). With cancer striking 1 out of every 3 women and one out of every 2 men this is a very important topic all of us will want to understand. This is a pre-recorded webinar. You can start and stop it whenever you like, but you will not be able to participate in the question and answer period. Please share this with anyone who has been touched...

Look what Shaklee's Scour Off Heavy Duty Paste Did!

This past weekend we had a cleaning challenge on our recently purchased used pickup. It had this terrible brown gunk on the wheels that had carmelized. It was on there so thick and so hard you could barely scrape it off with your nail. It looked like it had been on there for years and my husband thought there was no way you could get it off. He  was talking about the hundreds of dollars it would take to replace them. He doubted that even my Scour Off could do it. I said let me try. So I grabbed a bucket of water, my Scour Off and an old toothbrush. In a matter of a few minutes I had that entire wheel sparkling like new and no scratches. My husband was flabbergasted. And the cool part was my six year old wanted to help and I could let him because Shaklee’s Scour Off is non-toxic. It’s safe and it works like nothing I have ever known. The bad part was my six year old in his enthusiasm to help had grabbed his current toothbrush from out of the bathroom and used it! Luckily I reali...

April 2014 Newsletter

Welcome to our Celebrating Earth Day April 2014 Newsletter! Shaklee has always celebrated Earth Day everyday and we are always excited to share how much the Environment means to us. Home should be the safest, healthiest place in the whole world. But, today’s insulated air-tight homes are filled with chemicals that have never been tested for human toxicity - in the air, the walls, carpets, and in the household cleaners, which can carry some pretty scary warning labels. Below is some information on how cleaning products affect you, your children and your environment. See how these products affect you, what the EPA and what pediatricians have to say. 81,000 chemicals have been registered with the EPA in the past 30 years and fewer than 20% have been tested for toxicity. 90% of all poison exposures occur in the home. 90% of our time is spent indoors. EPA reports that air pollution is up to 5 times higher inside than outside. EPA studies have shown that elevated co...
